The Upstate Way
Richard Kay, owner of Upstate Automotive Group in Anderson, credits his employees for the dealerships outstanding success. “The only reason this business has worked is because of the great and dedicated employees we have here,” said Richard. “Much of our staff has been here since we opened. That’s unusual for a dealership.”
After working for Nissan Manufacturing in Jacksonville, Florida for 18 years, Richard decided to leave the corporate world and move home. With two young children, he wanted to raise his family in the Upstate because of its great quality of life. Richard bought the Nissan dealership in Anderson in 1992. He added Chevrolet and Cadillac in 2002 and Hyundai in 2005. Today, with over 80 employees and five dealerships at one location, Richard and his staff stay busy serving the Upstate’s automotive needs with outstanding service and dedication. “The most rewarding aspect of owning this business has been watching it grow,” said Richard. In his spare time, Richard enjoys spending time with his children, ages 13 and 11, and coaching their sports teams.
Upstate Automotives mission is to create customers and friends for life each and every day. From our sales processes through to our service department performance it is our singular objective to exceed the expectations of each and every customer. We will create dealerships where our customers truly “Get It All”—The Best Values and The Best Experience.
